Dewatering

Baustelle Leer-Apen9

Dewatering is necessary for various construction projects in order to carry out work in the ground. Examples are the reinforcement of dikes, the laying of pipelines or the construction of a basement, tunnel or foundation. Water technology is used to lower the groundwater level for a certain period of time. In this way we create a safe and dry working surface. For this purpose, we use an extensive arsenal of dewatering pumps, machines and other materials. With over 50 years of experience, we know exactly which type of dewatering is best in each case.

Vertical (filters or wells) and/or horizontal (drains) systems can be installed to temporarily remove water from the soil. For dewatering, we have four different techniques in use:

Vertical dewatering

A common method of dewatering is vertical filter dewatering. Vertical filters are flushed into the ground above the desired drawdown target and connected to a central drainage pipe. The filter system is determined based on the local soil structure and the required drainage depth. We use various filter systems for vertical drainage: vacuum filters, gravity filters, OTO filters and relaxation filters.

Horizontal dewatering

Horizontal dewatering is a suitable method for the development of large construction areas and long cable and pipeline routes. For this method we use our drainage machines, which install a drainage pipe under the ground to a depth of 7.80m.

Deep well

For large and/or deep excavations, we use deep well dewatering to lower the groundwater table. Deep well is also used for sites with a large inflow of groundwater in coarse-grained soils and deep aquifers. Here, too, we use a variety of systems: Vacuum deep wells, gravity wells and relief wells.

Re-infiltration

At sites where lowering the groundwater table has adverse effects on nature or buildings, we use re-infiltration. We return all or part of the extracted groundwater to the ground. The systems we use for this are percolation wells, percolation filters and percolation drains.
