A4 SuedLink-Projects

A-Nord

Auftraggeber: De Romein Group / TenneT Germany

Project description:
Section A4 of the SuedLink project covers a distance of 37 kilometers – from the district border between Stade and Rotenburg to Helvesiek/Scheeßel. SuedLink consists of two high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission lines with a voltage of 525 kV. TenneT Germany and manufacturers NKT and Prysmian are working hand in hand on the cable laying. Koop was commissioned by the De Romein Group to design and implement the groundwater lowering system to ensure stable and dry conditions in the cable trenches.

Technical implementation:
• Creation of groundwater lowering for the laying of two HVDC cables per system
• Use of over 200 diesel piston pumps for temporary water drainage
• Project organization as a traveling construction site in changing sections: dismantling, active construction, and advance construction
• Discharge of the extracted groundwater to the nearest discharge point or infiltration area
• Treatment of ferrous water using special deicing systems

Challenges and solutions:
The challenge of this project lies in the high complexity and dynamics of the mobile construction site: several sections are operated in parallel, while changing soil conditions, conveyor capacities, and environmental regulations must be taken into account. Thanks to precise planning, flexible technology, and reliable cooperation with our client, water management is efficient and compliant with regulations.

Result:
Koop is actively contributing to the realization of one of the most important infrastructure projects for the energy transition. The successful implementation of groundwater lowering ensures stable construction conditions and smooth cable laying in the SuedLink corridor.

Lowered position of the N391 ring road

After evaluating the results of the first pumping tests, Koop Bronbemaling is currently conducting a second pumping test in the area of the lowered section of the N391 ring road in Emmen. The aim is to investigate the feasibility and effects of a planned groundwater lowering for the renovation of an existing waterproof membrane structure under the N391. This membrane serves to support and stabilize the road in the event of fluctuating groundwater levels.

Project: Expansion of the industrial park

The industrial park in Lienen is being expanded in the area around Ölbergstraße. As part of the road construction work and the construction of a rainwater retention basin, Koop Wasserbau was commissioned to carry out the necessary water drainage measures.

STEM-Projekt Wassermanagement Bonhoeffer College Enschede
