Client: City of Erkrath
Project description:
A new high school with a modern sports hall and integrated retention basin is being built in Erkrath.
Due to the sloping location of the building site, Koop Wasserbau is taking on the central task of water management.
The site requires a combination of deep and shallow foundations. To ensure stability and drainage, Koop Wasserbau is installing deep drainage systems of varying depths and lengths parallel to the slope beneath the planned building.
Technical implementation:
• Milling of deep drainage systems of various depths and lengths along the slope
• Creation of a catchment drainage system with gravel filling for the targeted drainage of stratum water
• Use of vacuum electric piston pumps to convey the collected water
• Drainage of the drainage water into the Düssel river in accordance with water law regulations
Challenges and solutions:
The topographical conditions placed high demands on the planning and execution of the drainage systems. Thanks to precise milling technology and customized drainage solutions, reliable water drainage was ensured and the building site was secured under challenging conditions.
Result:
The project impressively demonstrates Koop Wasserbau’s expertise in dealing with challenging slopes and stratum water. Targeted measures are being taken to create a safe and sustainable foundation for the school building.
