As part of the reconstruction of the Köpenick S-Bahn station in Berlin, Koop Dewatering is supporting the work on the Hämmerlingstraße railroad overpass. Our focus is on comprehensive groundwater management that meets the highest safety and environmental standards. The aim is to ensure that the construction work is carried out smoothly and in compliance with all legal requirements.

Technical implementation:

  •  Implementation of high-performance water retention and treatment systems with a pumping capacity of up to 160 m³/h
  • Use of gravel filtration, stripping and activated carbon filter systems to treat the pumped water
  • Removal of increased concentrations of iron, AOX, VC and LHKW
  • Discharge of the purified water into the Wuhle watercourse in accordance with water regulations
  • Continuous monitoring to ensure compliance with all environmental regulations

Challenges and solutions:

The challenge was the complex contamination of the groundwater and the strict environmental regulations in the inner-city area. By combining state-of-the-art filter technologies, precise monitoring and close cooperation with the authorities, it was possible to implement a safe, compliant and sustainable solution.

Result:

The project impressively demonstrates our expertise in sustainable water management for large-scale projects in urban areas. Thanks to our expertise and partnership-based cooperation with STRABAG Rail GmbH, we are making an important contribution to the successful implementation of this pioneering infrastructure project in Berlin.
