For the design and construction of the drainage system, Koop Wasserbau was contracted in cooperation with L2T to build a deep well drainage system for Sperren Eefde.

The dewatering system consists of deep well dewatering to prevent cracking of the concrete floor and, in addition, open dewatering to pump out the residual water. The stress dewatering is frequency-controlled, with groundwater levels monitored via an online platform. Sixteen wells were installed with a suction drilling rig to a depth of about 20 meters. Continuous operation of the dewatering system is ensured by the installation of a telenot system and an automatic reserve system.

The residual water that penetrates the sheet pile wall is pumped out by bell pumps. The dewatering system has created a safe and dry working situation on the bottom of the lock chamber (approx. 14 m deep).
