The Kiekut parking lot on the A1 freeway in the direction of Bremen is being completely renovated and extended. The parking lot near Groß Ippener is located directly on the busy A1 highway. The A1 runs from Heiligenhafen in Schleswig-Holstein to Saarbrücken in Saarland. It is 749 km long and crosses 7 German states.
In order to provide the client with an estimate of the groundwater volumes to be expected for draining the excavation pit, we carried out a hydrological calculation. Based on this, we dimensioned the pumps, discharge pipes and the cleaning system. Based on our calculations, we installed gravity filters with a depth of 7 m in the ground. In total, we installed about 17 gravity filters over a length of 50 m for drainage. Because of the high iron content in the water, we connected a fully automatic deferrization system. This deferrization plant can deferrize up to 50,000 liters of groundwater per hour.
In order to ensure the water maintenance operation, an emergency power generator is connected, which receives a message in case of a power failure and takes over the operation.
It is also important to check the groundwater level in and around the excavation pit. For this purpose, two groundwater measuring points were installed up to 6 m deep in the ground. In this way, we can be sure of a successful project together with our customer Oevermann Verkehrswegebau GmbH.
