By water management we mean all measures for the temporary lowering of the groundwater level. This includes the application for permits, the installation of the dewatering systems, the creation of monitoring concepts to monitor the groundwater quality and the groundwater level up to the frequency-controlled drawdown. We take care of the entire process from A to Z for you.
The preliminary stage of groundwater drawdown
On the basis of soil characteristics, the groundwater level, the size of the excavation pit and the excavation dimensions, investigations and calculations are carried out for the required drawdown, the expected pumping rates and the drawdown range. The calculations are based on the soil characteristics data of the project-specific soil survey.
Using these calculations, we will provide you with a dewatering system and monitoring recommendation for the groundwater drawdown.
The next step is to submit a notification or application for a water law permit to the lower water authority.
The implementation of the recommendations into the design of the groundwater drawdown is done in a dewatering plan based on all specifications. The components of the dewatering system are considered in relation to the project and the surrounding area.
From plan to execution
Once the plan is completed and approved, we can begin the actual execution of the groundwater drawdown.
Groundwater monitoring
An important part of dewatering is the flow measurement and monitoring of groundwater levels, thus controlling the impact on the environment. Monitoring gauges are installed in the excavation pit and in the area of the drawdown funnel to monitor the groundwater level. A zero measurement will be taken prior to commissioning of the dewatering system. The groundwater level is measured daily during pumping operations and the specified limits are monitored.
Frequency controlled dewatering
One of our dewatering methods is frequency controlled dewatering by means of a water level measurement. The pumps are connected to a fully automatic control unit where the dewatering is adjusted according to the required limits. The water level measurement is carried out by level controls at various monitoring levels at the construction site.
